Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NodeLens ("we", "us"), the provider of the NodeLens desktop application and the website at nodelens.io, collects, uses, and protects your information. By using NodeLens you agree to this policy.

1. A note on how NodeLens works

NodeLens is a local-first desktop application. Your Unreal Engine Blueprints, notes, and project files are stored on your own device and are not uploaded to us. If you enable AI features, the content you choose to send is transmitted directly from your device to the AI provider you configure (for example Anthropic or OpenAI), or processed entirely on your machine (Ollama). That data is governed by the respective provider's privacy policy; NodeLens does not proxy, receive, or store it.

2. Information we collect

• Purchase & account data: your email address and name, provided when you purchase a subscription. Payments are processed by our payment provider (see below); we do not receive or store your full card details.
• License data: your license key and a device identifier — a non-personal, non-reversible value derived locally from your Windows installation ID. It is used solely to enforce the one-machine-per-license limit and to enable license transfers. It cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Technical data: when your app or browser contacts our licensing service, we may temporarily process your IP address for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention. We do not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind.
• Support data: any information you provide when you contact support.

3. How we use your information

• To deliver, activate, validate, and transfer your license.
• To process your subscription and send transactional emails (e.g., your license key, renewal or transfer notices).
• To provide customer support.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Third-party service providers

We rely on the following processors, who handle data only as needed to provide their service:

• Paddle — our payment provider and Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment and billing information under its own privacy policy.
• Keygen — license management (stores license keys and device activation records).
• Cloudflare — website hosting, license-validation service, and file delivery.
• Resend — delivery of transactional emails.
• AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or a local Ollama instance) — only if you enable AI features, and only with data sent directly from your device at your instruction.

5. Data retention

We retain purchase and license data for as long as your account/license is active and as required to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. Technical logs are retained only for a short period for security purposes.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@nodelens.io. Note that some payment-related data is controlled by Paddle and subject to their policies and legal retention requirements.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

NodeLens is not directed to individuals under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
